Curiosity has taken me around the world, and with each new city has come with the need to figure out how things are where they are. That said, understanding motivation and behaviour has always been an interest of mine — particularly when it comes to health and wellbeing. Cancer Survivorship; Systems Thinking, Research Translation
2023 – 2024
Flinders University’s Cancer Survivorship program examines the cancer care journey comprehensively by using systems thinking approaches to understand how patients and professionals can be better supported in the care received and provided.
Highlights as a Research Fellow:
Organised statewide and national stakeholder consultations to better understand the enablers and barriers to Lymphoedema services to create a priorities report on enablers, barriers, and possible solutions at the local and national level. This report has recently been launched alongside a parliamentary interest group focused on tackling issues and raising awareness for Lymphoedema.
Managing international collaboration in knowledge sharing to advance our understanding of and sharing culturally adapted resources on cancer survivorship in partnership between Australia and Greater China.
Ageing Well; Co-design, Living Labs, Service Design
2021 - 2022
The Global Centre for Modern Ageing is a research consultancy advising on how services and products can improve and empower older adults and those that care for them to be able to live their best.
Highlights as a User Researcher:
Led operations for First Nations arm of a trial testing federal aged care service assessment process & procedures for feasibility and cultural safety.
Managed project with Hong Kong Council of Social Service (HKCSS) to strategise the local development of their gerontechnology Living Lab plans. Our work was recognised by the Hong Kong Australia Business Association (South Australia) for the best initiative award 2023.
Health Intervention Implementation; User Experience, Andragogy, Motivation
2016 – 2020
One of the foci at the Institute of Positive Psychology & Education is Motivation and Behaviour. This particular program focuses on understanding human motivation and behaviour largely through the lens of Self-Determination Theory (SDT) for the promotion of human wellness.
Highlights as a PhD researcher:
Led data collection and research assistant training on a statewide clinical trial looking at the feasibility of an online teacher professional learning course to upskill physical education capabilities - rolled out to 200 primary schools in New South Wales.
Managed study engaging learning and development experts to better understand what are the essential aspects at different organisational levels to ensure online professional development is engaging.
